Till now, Africa is disproportionately affected and struck by devastating catastrophes like Civil War, Famine, Disease, Floods, Drought, High Unemployment rates, Traditional & culturally normalized Rape and Defilement, Earthquakes, Coup de-tats, Land grabbing to mention but a few that annually kill thousands and destroy its infrastructure too. these challenges have devastated sub-Saharan Africa which is the breadbasket of the continent. Upon that background, many young Africans look to build a life elsewhere globally. From the colonial to Slavery times, Africa has suffered one of the largest brain-drains of any country in the world. According to numerous studies done, Africa loses between 70-85% of its educated workforce every year who repatriate to Europe and North America.
FAD FOUNDATION is currently implementing an education pilot project in rural Uganda which includes teacher training and aims to support the education and literacy of 1000 disadvantaged young boys and girls. Their families and the community in which the school project is to be implemented will receive training on how to do modern and commercially viable agriculture within their small parcels of land, and on the importance of preventive health care. FAD FOUNDATION is of the view that instead of donor handouts, which build the endless dependence culture of NGOs, these project families will be given the tools to contribute to their own empowerment, sustainability, and transformation into self-sustaining citizens able to live their lives productively.
