Your contribution can help rebuild the lives of Refugees & Families who have fled persecution and give hope to survivors of suffering and misery.
When vulnerable refugees, families and individuals come to FAD Foundation for support with nothing but the clothes they are wearing, the welfare fund provides emergency money to buy essential items such as warm clothing, shoes and toiletries. Being able to provide these items quickly is a crucial step in the recovery of people who have often come from perilous circumstances, malnourished and scared.
Your contribution could provide food parcels – typically containing rice, pasta and tinned vegetables – to refugees, helping to support them on their journey to rebuilding their confidence and independence in Canada and or USA.
Refugees are often the most vulnerable in our society, for someone who is fleeing war, civil strife, famine and drought, forced marriages, a simple winter coat could mean their first feeling of safety in months. A contribution of just a few dollars could buy someone needy a SIM card with enough credit to allow them to make contact with their family.
We also use this fund to support new mothers who have fled violence, providing them with essential baby items and payments like paying for passport photos for their new-born babies.
Our welfare fund is the last resort when no other provision is in place to help. This fund can be accessed by our teams across Canada and USA, meaning that your contribution could be helping vulnerable people in the various provinces or states.

Options to consider
Gifting a share of your assets
A “residual gift” allows you to leave a percentage of what is left of your estate or assets once all debts have been paid.
Sample wording: “My estate trustees shall pay or transfer to The FAD Foundation Conservancy all (or %) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for the general purposes of The FAD Foundation Conservancy.
Gifting a specific amount
This allows you to leave a specific amount to the FAD Foundation Conservancy.
Sample wording: “My estate trustees shall pay or transfer to The FAD Foundation Conservancy the sum of $________ to be used for the general purposes of The FAD Foundation Conservancy.
Adding a codicil
If you already have a will in place, you may wish to speak to your legal advisor about the simple process of adding a codicil to your will.

– You retain full control of assets in your lifetime.
– Gifts made in your will can reduce or even eliminate final income tax, which can be a big benefit to your heirs.

A “Gift of Life Insurance” is made when you name a charitable organization of your choice as the beneficiary on a life insurance policy.
This means that you control the policy, and the organization would receive the insurance proceeds upon death.
There are a number of life insurance options available and each will have different types of tax benefits.
We encourage you to talk to a professional advisor (i.e. your lawyer, financial advisor, accountant etc.) who can help you decide which option(s) will work best for you and your family.
3 easy ways to make a Gift of Life Insurance
Purchase a new policy and name The FAD Foundation Conservancy as the owner and irrevocable beneficiary. You will receive charitable donation receipts for the annual premiums paid by you each year. Receipts can only be issued for premiums paid AFTER the transfer of ownership to the charity. It is important to discuss this point with your agent before you make your first premium payment.
Transfer an existing policy by naming The FAD Foundation Conservancy as the owner and irrevocable beneficiary. This could be a policy, for example, that was taken out to cover a mortgage that is now fully paid. We will issue a charitable donation receipt for the ‘fair market value’ instead of ‘cash surrender value’ and for any subsequent premiums that you pay in the future. This type of transfer of an existing policy could result in some taxable income; however, the tax credit you will receive from your donation will most often offset any tax due.
Name The FAD Foundation Conservancy as a revocable beneficiary on a new or existing policy.
Upon receipt of the proceeds following your death, a charitable donation receipt will be issued to your estate for the full amount.
NOTE: Another easy way to make a significant gift to the BTC that is often forgotten is to name The FAD Foundation Conservancy as a beneficiary of your RRSP, RRIF or pension plan.
One of the most cost-effective ways to support the FAD Foundation Conservancy is with the gift of securities today or through your estate.
Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, and employee stock options.
Benefits of Donating Securities
By donating securities directly to the FAD Foundation Conservancy, rather than cashing them in and donating the proceeds:
You eliminate the capital gains tax
You receive a charitable tax receipt for the full closing value of the securities
You can make the donation easily. The transfer can be done electronically by your broker from your account to the FAD Foundation Conservancy’s account.
Donating securities is easy and efficient:
Contact the FAD Foundation Conservancy to advise us of your gift at +1-416-728-9113 info@fadfoundation.org | ssalikg256@gmail.com
- Complete the securities transfer form and send one copy to your broker and the other to the FAD
- Foundation Conservancy by mail, fax, or email.
- Your broker initiates the trade and transfers your gift of securities to the FAD Foundation
- Conservancy. This usually happens electronically and within 3-5 business days.
- FAD Foundation Conservancy sells the securities and receives the current value.
- You receive a tax receipt for the full closing value of the securities on the day the FAD Foundation Conservancy receives it.
Your gift contributes to preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever.
Please seek professional advice from a financial advisor before making a gift of securities, and for a full explanation of the tax benefits for you.
Many of our nature reserves have been made possible by those who have generously donated land to the FAD Foundation Conservancy, either in their lifetime or after they have passed by way of a bequest.
Deciding how to protect the natural or cultural features of your land is unique and personal. You may wish to protect the heritage values of your land for future generations. You may see conservation as a way to resolve property or potential income tax challenges. Or you may view it as an estate-planning option.
Trained and experienced FAD Foundation Conservancy staff are ready to discuss the options available to you and will assist you every step of the way to ensure your commitment to conservation creates a lasting natural legacy.
Our donors play an instrumental role in furthering the preservation and conservation of the FAD Foundation’s Conservation Corridor. We are honored to celebrate and acknowledge this tremendous support.
